Frequently Asked Questions

What are the health benefits of Maple Syrup?

Also recognized for its irresistible power of sweetness, maple syrup offers excellent nutritional value. It contains zinc, which plays a role in genetic formation, healing and fetal development, and manganese, which provides protection against free radicals. Maple syrup also has an appreciable amount of calcium and thiamin.

Just a small amount (60 ml) of maple syrup provides 100% of the recommended daily intake of manganese, about 40% of riboflavin, 18% of zinc and 5% of both calcium and potassium.

What makes maple syrup organic? Isn’t all maple syrup organic?

Organic labeling simply means you’re respecting the guidelines. These guidelines include limiting the number of taps per tree, ensuring diversity in the forest to ensure farmers don’t cut down other competing tree species, using only stainless steel tanks and boilers and using all- natural cleaning products on the equipment.

Proper records must be kept as to when and where each drop of Organic syrup was made, providing complete traceability from start to finish.

What is the shelf life of maple syrup?

As long as maple syrup is unopened, you should store it in a cool, dry area and will last for 4 years. The pantry is the perfect place, but a kitchen cupboard works too.

Once you open the bottle, you should keep it tightly closed and refrigerated. That’s because it’s an all-natural product, and doesn’t contain any preservatives.

Is maple syrup gluten free?

Does Maple Butter contain dairy?

Maple butter, also known as maple cream or maple spread, is a confection made from maple syrup, It is usually made from Grade A Golden maple syrup (sometimes known as Fancy), and is a light tan color.

The consistency of maple butter is light and spreadable, very similar to the consistency of peanut butter. Its name comes from the fact that it is “buttery” or “creamy” smooth, not because it contains any dairy product (it is dairy-free). It is sometimes used as a spread instead of butter, or as a frosting. Cinnamon is sometimes added to create “maple cinnamon butter”.
